The British Ambassador represents Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as well as the UK government in Hungary. The Queen awarded him an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2002, a highly distinguished achievement of chivalry.

I first visited Budapest in 1982. I came with some friends on the overnight train from Warsaw, where I was working at the British Embassy. Howling dogs and misty border crossings - it was like living in a John le Carré novel. Budapest was shrouded in freezing fog all weekend but I still fell in love with the city.

Mr Iain Lindsay OBE was appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Hungary from 30 March 2016. He previously held the position of Her Majesty’s Ambassador in Manama from 2011 to 2015.
